CRB inspects Metro sites for hands-on ground reality

Noapara-Dakshineswar would be commissioned before Sept. 2019

Kolkata: In order to take stock of the ground realities, Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board, personally visited the under-construction Metro project sites on Monday, 5th March 2018.  He started his inspection from the Metro site at Dakshineswar.

It was decided that the section from Noapara to Dakshineswar would be commissioned before September 2019, so that the facilities can be availed by the  Kolkatans during Durga Puja 2019 as the last hindrance of the encroachments in Kamarhati Municipality has been completely removed.

He also inspected the alignment of Airport–New Garia Metro project. He traveled along the construction site from City Centre II to Ruby Hospital to see the works in progress with GM/Metro and CMD/RVNL.

Thereafter, he went to Joka and inspected the under-construction Joka station building and traveled along the alignment till Mominpur inspecting the progress of works.

RVNL authorities have said that they will take two years to commission their project from Joka to Majerhat after getting the entire land for the Joka depot.

He also visited the  Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital of Metro Railway along with GM/Metro Railway, CMD/Eastern Railway and CMS/Metro Railway. He expressed his satisfaction with the facilities provided to Railway beneficiaries in the Hospital and advised the in-charges of all the Railway Hospitals in Kolkata area to interact among themselves once in a month for upgrading the hospital facilities based on the need of the beneficiaries.

He also interacted with the Metro officers at Metro Bhavan and sought their suggestions for improvement in services so that Metro can live up to the expectations of their commuters and once again stressed on speedy completion of the projects.
