Long stay employees work as they wish

A harassed contractor wrote to the GM !

After too much harassment a Railway Contractor wrote a complaint to General Manager, Western Railway, Churchgate, Mumbai and also forwarded the same to “Kanafoosi and “RailSamachar” via email.

The contractor writes that he is working in Western Railway Construction office, deployed on the 8th Floor, station building, Churchgate and his work contract falls under DyCE/C-II.

He writes, “two Employees viz. Sr.SO Mr Gupta and OS Mr David (who is on a sensitive post for the longest time – moreover 15 years) apparently hold an authoritative position here and work on a monopoly basis”.

“They work as they wish to and openly demand a random amount of money from contractors, and in case we fail to pay off, the work will not be passed. Their team also functions in a similar way i.e right from making the bill to passing it, they have their own ways of working around.”

According to confirmed sources, Mr Gupta did not have the work of DyCE/C-II under him, but was assigned to Mr Palawat.

Mr Gupta (Sr.SO/Accounts) got along with his close aid Dy FA&CAO/C, Churchgate (a promotee who retired in October 2020) and took an extra charge of a DyCE/C-II and got Mr Palawat’s duty changed.

Now along with his other undertaken charges / work, Mr Gupta is also handling the work of DyCE/C-II too.

His officer incharge (FA&CAO) doesn’t know about this change or whatever, and the extra charge taken by Mr Gupta by bypassing the original transfer/posting order that was handed over to him.

The contractor alleged in his complaint that Mr Gupta has created a ruckus and has been troubling people around him for the smallest of requests. He takes the whole contract of passing the bills. (He – the contractor – himself is a victim of his actions and have faced a lot of trouble.)

“Mr. Gupta doesn’t sign a single paper (bill) without taking money (bribe) for the same”, the contractor said in his complaint.

The contractor humbly requested the GM/WR to investigate and take a strong action against these corrupt officials so that we – the small contractors – can work in a peaceful atmosphere.

And he has also warned that if the Railway administration fails to take an appropriate action, we will be forced to send out an official complaint to the Ministry.
