SER organizes “Swachchh Rail, Swachchh Bharat” special drive on cleanliness

Kolkata: In the direction of GM/SER S. N. Agrawal, South Eastern Railway is organizing a month-long “Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat” special drive on the cleanliness of all major stations over its jurisdiction w.e.f. 25th May to 24th June 2018.

As a part of this special cleanliness drive, all important stations are taken and identified for cleaning in a vigorous manner at every nook and corner. Healthier and hygienic atmosphere should be prominently visible at the stations for the coziness of passengers.

Besides regular cleanliness drive, measures like On Board House Keeping, Feedback Survey and Third Party Assessment of cleanliness are being adopted by railways to improve the quality of cleanliness. Intensive cleanliness drives are being made through mechanized cleaning system at stations and in trains.

To create extensive awareness amongst rail users and passengers, posters, banners, leaflets are put up at various areas of stations to attract the attention of the passengers for their consciousness about cleanliness. Skits  (Nukkad)  are being staged at different stations of S E Railway to give the message of “Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat” for cleaner railway stations.

CCTVs are also being used for monitoring the cleanliness drive. Officers and staff from different departments are being deployed in this massive cleanliness drive. Passengers of different classes are being interviewed as a feedback about cleanliness and their suggestions have been taken for the betterment of railways in respect of cleanliness.

Intensive pest control treatment drive by SER in passenger coaches

Kolkata: Passenger amenities have always been a top priority of South Eastern Railway. To ensure a hassle-free journey in a cleaner environment, SER has taken special initiatives regarding Pest Control Treatment in train coaches. Regular checks and frequent Pest Control treatment are being undertaken to remove the cockroaches, bedbugs, mosquitoes etc from the coaches.

Intensive rodent control treatment is also being exercised periodically to kill the mice and other rodents which cause discomfort to the traveling passengers.

The chemicals used for these treatments will be changed in quarterly basis so that insects do not acquire immunity for a particular type of chemical. This measure will ensure more effective pest control drives.
