GM/NCR conducts inspection of Allahabad-Mirzapur section

Allahabad: GM/NCR, M. C. Chauhan conducted a window trailing inspection from Allahabad to Mirzapur Today on Saturday (21st of April 2018) by train number 14056 (Brahmaputra Mail). Window-trailing inspection is a specialized inspection in the Indian Railways in which the track and its surrounding installations like signals, OHE, platforms etc are inspected from the rear window of an inspection car attached to a moving train.

During the inspection, important parameters like cleanliness and overall condition of stations falling en-route, riding quality of the train-especially on points and crossings, progress of work of Dedicated Freight Corridor, Improvement in Track Geometry Index (TGI), Condition of level crossing gates en-route etc were observed by the GM.

GM advised that all safety-related works like sleeper renewals, rail renewals; deep screening of ballast, and Road Over Bridge (ROB) & Road Under Bridge (RUB) works should be completed within targeted timelines. GM also advised that the working condition of trackmen and other field staff could be improved by developing ‘trackmen restrooms’ with toilets, lighting and other basic facilities in mid-section.

After the window trailing inspection, GM inspected the Mirzapur Station where he inspected the passenger amenities, waiting rooms, platforms, toilets, PRS, Booking Office, Catering Units, Cleanliness, Adequacy of water supply on the platforms, and Circulating Area.

At Mirzapur, he also advised that proper manning of the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines should be done so as to provide assistance to those passengers who wanted to use the facility of ATVM but needed to be guided.


NCR bags Bronze in Railway Exhibition on the occasion of 63rd Rly Week in Bhopal

Allahabad: The North Central Railway (NCR) bagged the bronze medal for its stall at the recently concluded three-day All-India Railway Exhibition, organized in Bhopal from the 15th to the 17th of April. The exhibition was organized as a part of the 63rd railway week celebrations, which were held in the capital of Madhya Pradesh this year.

A high-level committee evaluated more than 40 stalls put up in the campus of ‘Bhopal Haat’ by the 17 zonal railways, production units, and railway-PSUs; highlighting their respective achievements and cumulatively the contributions of Indian Railways in the development and unification of the Nation. The stall of North Central Railway, which showcased rare photographs of railway heritage and history apart from attractive and informative visuals, audio-visual material, and models saw a large number of visitors thronging to it.

Not only the non-railway visitors, but even railwaymen were seen spending a considerable amount of time on NCR-stall, appreciating the sheer variety of exhibits put up on display. It was the concept, creativity & variety of the exhibits and the depth of explanation given by the officers of NCR manning the stall that ensured that NCR returned with an All-India medal from the exhibition. The medal carried with it a cash award of Rs. 30,000.

Speaking on the achievement, General Manager, M. C. Chauhan said that NCR won a medal in the All-India level railway exhibition because of the creativity and commitment shown by the team of NCR officers and staff who participated in the exhibition. “I congratulate the team and am confident that they will continue to bring accolades for NCR in future also” he added.
