GM/NCR Conducts annual inspection of Bina-Jhansi Section

Allahabad bureau : GM/NCR M. C. Chauhan conducted GM’s annual inspection of Jhansi Division of North Central Railway on Tuesday, 20th February 2018. The inspection started in the morning and continued till late in the evening. The section inspected was the Jhansi-Bina section. Starting from Bina, the inspection included the inspection of the track from the rear window of the inspection car as well as one Major Curve, two Level Crossings, one Gang, Three Stations (Agasod and Lalitpur and Babina), Two Railway Colonies (Agasod and Lalitpur), One Minor Bridge, One Major Bridge (On Narain River), and one turnout (in Agasod Yard).

Besides the above, GM/NCR also inspected the RPF Posts at the stations and gave awards to those posts whose maintenance was found to be superior. At Nagasod station, the newly installed rainwater harvesting system for recharging of groundwater installed on the station was appreciated by the GM. Being a remote area, GM advised that solar lighting should be provided on the staff quarters at the station so as to ensure a reliable supply of electricity, especially in view of the oncoming summer season.

At all three stations – Nagasod, Lalitpur and Babina – GM/NCR inspected the passenger amenities, waiting rooms, platforms, toilets, PRS, Booking Office, Catering Units, Cleanliness, and Circulating Area.During the inspection of the various facilities en-route from Bina to Jhansi, GM/NCR also conducted a thorough check of the track parameters.

He also gave close attention to the condition of the road surface at LC gates, and the equipment that are used to maintain the track and other related facilities. GM advised that steps should be taken to improve the visibility of the LC gates for the road users.

During the inspection, the upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness and the general condition of the section and stations was found to be good.GM/NCR gave away cash awards to individual staff/group of staff for their dedication to duty, good knowledge, and performance.

In the inspection, GM/NCR interacted extensively with the staff and tested them on their knowledge about their work and duties. He also enquired into their welfare and advised the concerned officers to take special care of the welfare of the staff working in the section.

GM/NCR also appreciated the traditional artwork – Warli Painting – that had been done on the walls of some of the stations in the section. After the inspection of the section, GM/NCR met representatives of the press and media at Jhansi station and satisfied their queries.

During this interaction, GM also informed the press and media about the provisions made in the new budget for Jhansi Division. Speaking on the subject, he informed the press about the sanction, which has just been received for the doubling and electrification of Jhansi-Manikpur and Bhimsen-Khairar sections.

He informed that the twin projects of doubling and electrification will have significant positive impacts which are as follows:

1. Doubling of the lines will improve punctuality and result in better safety through improved availability of time for maintenance blocks. This doubling will also improve connectivity to Khajuraho, which is an international tourist destination.

2. Electrification of these lines will reduce carbon emissions, promote sustainable environment, and reduce fuel import dependence.

3. These two lines (Jhansi-Manikpur and Bhimsen-Khairar) will be important feeder routes for the Dedicated Freight Corridor.

4. The doubling and electrification projects of these two lines will generate direct employment during construction for about 102 lakh man-days.

At Jhansi station, public representatives met GM/NCR and thanked him for his initiative of extending Gatiman Express upto Jhansi – a move which will enhance tourism in the entire Bundelkhand region in general and around Jhansi in particular. PHODs of NCR, DRM Jhansi and Commissioner of Railway Safety (NE Circle) accompanied GM/NCR in the inspection.
