SER: More than 2 lakh tonnes food grains & salt have reached in the month of Sept.’20

Rakes containing food grains are being unloaded at different locations over South Eastern Railway’s jurisdiction.

Kolkata: South Eastern Railway has taken all possible measures in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic to ensure uninterrupted supply of food grains and other essential commodities.

As per the guidelines given by the Ministry of Railways, SER has geared up its entire network for unabated movement of goods trains.

During the month of September, 2020, altogether 2,03,128 tonnes of food grains and Salt have been unloaded from 98 rakes comprising of Rice, Wheat and Salt at different stations and sidings of South Eastern Railway.

Out of this 98 rakes of food grains, 48 rakes of Rice, 49 rakes of wheat and one rake of Salt were unloaded.

The rakes were unloaded at different locations of SER viz. Kalaikunda, Midnapur, Rupsa, Adra, Purulia, Bankura, Bokaro Steel City, Tatanagar, Tatisilwai, Namkom etc. during the period from 1st September to 30th September, 2020.
