Train Blockades to be conducted at Nagercoil Junction
Kanyakumari : Discrimination of narrow minded Railway officials with hatred towards Tamil Nadu People – Neglects and plans by proposals to make inconveniences and problems towards Tamil Nadu districts and areas under Trivandrum Division.
Route Diversion Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh 15905/15906 express via. Madurai
Recently the railway department announced an increase in the frequency of Kanyakumari – Dibrugarh 15905/15906 weekly to daily service. I strongly oppose this decision.
Also, I strongly oppose long distance trains operating via. Kerala starting from Tamilnadu and dumping Kerala trains for maintenance at Nagercoil/Tirunelveli. My constituency passengers need long distance trains only via Tirunelveli, Madurai, Chennai route.
During the 2018-19 financial year, Nagercoil railway station has generated an income of Rs. 54, 88, 20,540. In April 2019, Nagercoil – Tambaram 22657/22658 tri-weekly express and Nagercoil-Tambaram 16191/16192 Antyodaya Exp were introduced from Nagercoil.
After introducing these two trains, the revenue increased by 19% leading to a revenue of Rs. 65,83,33,55.
This proves that railways can earn more revenue by operating more trains in Tamil Nadu route than Kerala routes. Hence I would request the railway do route divert Kanyakumari – Dibrugarh 15905/15906 daily train via. Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli and Chennai routes which are really in need.
If the route diversion of this train is not possible then make the short termination of Kanyakumari – Dibrugarh 15905/15906 train at Kochuveli or Trivandrum. I would like to add one more suggestion: to reduce the congestion of Trivandrum railway station I request to extend Trivandrum – Mangalore express 16347/16348 to Nagercoil. It would be highly appreciated if the above request is implemented.
Route Divert Kanyakumari-Mumbai CST 16381/16382 Express via. Konkan Railway
It is worth highlighting that Kanyakumari – Mumbai CST 16381/16382 Express train has lost its popularity due to its circuitous route with comparison of Konkan railway route. At the same time Konkan route trains to Mumbai from Mangalore, Ernakulam and Trivandrum are always running with huge waiting lists.
It indicates to need of additional daily trains to Mumbai via Konkan railway route, hence I request to route divert 16381/16382 Kanyakumari – Mumbai CST express via Konkan Railway route (Mangalore, Madgaon)
Adv. J. G. Prince, MLA (Tamil Nadu), in the Political Social Service of Indian National Congress, has requested the above-mentioned demands multiple times for several years.
If the two demands are not considered, he would take the necessary steps to organise the Train Blockade at Nagercoil Railway Jn, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, along with of all Members Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Kanyakumari district with public support, he said in press release to ‘RailSamachar’.
