No Work Is Important Above Life !
Illogical working in P-Way units, Car-Sheds and others at the cost of workmen
In the view of Covid-19 pandemic, Indian Railways has stood on forefront to help the country, but we need to keep in mind at the same time that this might put someone’s life on stake.
According to policy of Indian Railways and as per govt’s commitment also,
Gangman and P-Way staffs will only work in the areas where goods trains are in service currently, and in rest of areas keyman will do the petroling only, and this has been getting followed properly.
Also, till date no proper working guidelines by Engineering officials has been issued as how many workers should be allowed at working timing or about the termination of workers in view of safety.
As we are well aware about P-Way working, which is an great example of team work, and it’s almost not possible to do it by completely following physical distancing.
In Suburban where local trains or any other trains are not running, there also all the major special and major planned work getting forcefully done by verbal orders of senior officials.
In photos, it might show physical distancing but we all know it’s difficult or almost impossible to follow the same in continuous hours of working.
In this pattern of working, many contract labours and workers are giving their contribution, and there is no follow up about their travel history or which society they might be coming from, neither any thermal screening has been done.
Also, as we can see in Maharashtra more than 60% cases are of patients who are a symptomatic, so in that situation we shouldn’t take any risk.
Also, all senior/junior Engineering officials are staying at home and not joining the work physically and all the supervisors and workers are forced to join to their work, which is these days a regular scenario.
We need to tackle these situation, as Railway administration/officials cannot wait for employees of railway to become a sufferers of this disease, because no one can take the charge of any employee that who’s infected and who’s not, because it’s not about the physical distancing or thermal screening or any precautionary measures whether we’re following at work or not, it’s also based on other factors from where that person or an individual is coming, which society do they live in and so many other so many factors too.
Hence, strict actions needs to be taken by railway administration because no work is above life of anyone or strict actions or guidelines should be released to overcome this.
Railway officials shouldn’t wait to put any worker life at risk.
