CRB stressed on infrastructure development works, track renovation

Kolkata: Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board & Ex-Officio Principal Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of Railways visited S E Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach on 25th April, 2019 and held a high level meeting to review the performance of South Eastern Railway. P. S. Mishra, General Manager, SER, all Principal Heads of the Departments and other senior officers were present at the meeting.

CRB Vinod Kumar Yadav reviewed all the aspects of railway working and laid special emphasis on safety, punctuality, freight loading and earnings. Chairman, Railway Board also stressed on infrastructure development works viz. new lines, doubling, electrification etc.

P. S. Mishra, GM/SER apprised the Chairman, Railway Board about  the achievements and key activities  of SER in the year 2018-19 and target for the year 2019-20. General Manager also mentioned about the planning and progress of SER on  originating freight & passenger earnings, infrastructure developmental projects, track renovation and railway electrification works.

Chairman, Railway Board expressed satisfaction about the all round performance of SER and stressed upon improvement of passenger amenities. Chairman, Railway Board also mentioned about the measures taken by railway on staff welfare.


SER wins ‘Best Creativity Award’ in a documentary competition

Kolkata: South Eastern Railway, the prime mover of Indian Railways won ‘Best Creativity Award’ in the 64th All India Inter Railway Documentary Competition held at Ahmedabad, on 26.04.2019. The documentary was made on the braveheart lady employee, Mrs. Pushpa Singh, Keyman by designation in Engineering Department under Kharagpur Division. This unique documentary was conceptualised by P. S. Mishra, General Manager of South Eastern Railway.

This documentary video was released on International Women’s Day in this year and the lady was felicitated by Chairman, Railway Board on that very day. Mrs Puspa Singh, basically a lady of strong determination, devoted herself to her duty bypassing all hardships. All through the video presentation, her courageous deeds in various odds were vividly & vehemently picturized.

Her power packed working and eventful activities delighted and overwhelmed the houseful of audiences during the competition. Out of 20 Railways and Railway PSUs participated in this competition, SER achieved the Best Creativity Award amongst all Zonal Railways.


SER generates record revenue from scrap sales surpassing traget

Kolkata: South Eastern Railway has achieved exemplary Scrap Sale record of Rs 293.63 crores in the financial year 2018-19. This is the highest in last 5 years and has surpassed Railway Board’s target of Rs 240 crores by Rs 53.63 crores. The sale value is Rs 121.83 crore more than last year’s Scrap Sales. All Scrap lots have been sold on competitive and transparent e-auction platform.

Making South Eastern Railway a “Scrap Free Railway” has been one of the mission areas in 2018-19. To realise value from sale of unserviceable materials lying along tracks, workshops etc, numerous inspections were done and coordination meetings were held by senior Railway Officers to indentify and dispose all such items of scrap.

Total 55,382 MT of Scrap Rails, 672 Nos. of condemned Wagons, 260 Nos. of condemned Coaches, 8 Nos. of condemned Diesel Locomotives, 1,821 MT of Non-Ferrous Scrap and 19,743 MT of Ferrous Scrap released from Workshop and Maintenance Units were disposed off in 2018-19.
