SER eliminates all unmanned level crossings before the target date

Kolkata: As the fifth Zonal Railway in the country, South Eastern Railway (SER) has touched the milestone of eliminating all Unmanned Level Crossings (ULC) over its jurisdiction. This Railway has eliminated all Unmanned Level Crossings in its network before the target date.

The target date fixed by Railway Board for the elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings is 30th September 2018 and South Eastern Railway has achieved the target within 25th September 2018. This will not only ensure punctuality and safety in train operations but also will be of immense benefit to the road users.

At the beginning of this financial year, there were altogether 149 Unmanned Level Crossings in S.E.Railway in its 4 divisions viz. Adra, Chakradharpur, Kharagpur, and Ranchi. South Eastern Railway has eliminated all the Unmanned Level Crossings in its network within 25th September 2018.

Out of the total 149 Unmanned Level Crossings, 116 Level Crossings have been Manned while Limited Height Subways have been constructed at 26 locations. The rest have been eliminated either through Diversion of Traffic or closure.


Railway Convention Committee Holds Meeting With GM/SER

Kolkata: The Railway Convention Committee led by Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament & Chairperson of the Committee and four other Members of Parliament both from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha visited Kolkata on 26th September 2018 and held a high level meeting with P. S. Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway and other Principal Head of the Departments.

General Manager, South Eastern Railway P. S. Mishra apprised the MPs about the developmental works of South Eastern Railway especially safety measures taken by this railway. The area of discussion was on ‘Material Management’, ‘Measures taken by the Zonal Railway to Reduce Derailments’ and ‘Protection of Railway property by the Zonal Railway’.

The other Hon’ble MPs who attended the meeting were K. Ashok Kumar, Rahul Ramesh Shewale, Bharat Singh and Ranvijay Singh Judev. The Members expressed their satisfaction on the progress of South Eastern Railway in all respects.


P. S. MISHRA ASSUMED CHARGE AS NEW GENERAL MANAGER, SER

Kolkata: Purnendu S. Mishra assumed the charge of the post of General Manager, South Eastern Railway in the afternoon of 20.09.2018. Prior to this, Shri Mishra was Principal Chief Operations Manager, Western Railway, Mumbai.

Shri Mishra joined in Indian Railways Traffic Service in 1982. He has acquired vast knowledge and experience in train operations after joining in Indian Railways. Shri Mishra worked in various capacities viz., Advisor/Safety and Executive Director (Corporate Co-ordination), Railway Board, Divisional Railway Manager/Raipur, South East Central Railway, Chief Transportation Planning Manager, South Eastern Railway.

Apart from this, he worked as Chief Freight Transportation Manager, Chief Transportation Planning Manager and Chief Passenger Transportation Manager both in East Coast and East Central Railways.

Shri Mishra underwent various training programmes in abroad. He is amicable and has a keen interest in sports and other social & welfare activities.
