Rajiv Agrawal holds first meeting with officials after taking over charge as GM/NCR
Allahabad: General Manager, North Eastern Railway, Rajiv Agarwal held his first meeting with NCR officials after assuming additional charge of GM/NCR on 7th August 2018. All PHODs and HODs of NCR were present in the meeting, along with DRMs of the three divisions of NCR-Agra, Allahabad and Jhansi- also participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
Speaking in the meeting, GM Rajiv Agrawal said that safety in train operations is the first and the topmost important corporate objective of the Indian Railways. Along with ensuring safety, ensuring the punctual running of Mail/Express trains is the second most important thrust area.
“We have to ensure that there is no compromise on safety, and, while ensuring safety, we also have to ensure the punctual running of passenger-carrying trains on our system,” he said.
Speaking further on priorities for the NCR, GM Agrawal laid stress on the timely completion of works relating to the Kumbh Mela-2019. He also advised that the timely completion of the works relating to the construction of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) as the next item on the priority list, especially the Khurja-Bhaupur section of EDFC, which is to be commissioned during this year.
GM further advised that in view of the heavy rains in the monsoon season, measures should be taken to protect vulnerable locations especially bridge approaches, culverts etc.
Speaking on punctuality, Shri Agrawal advised that both short-term and long-term measures were needed to be taken in order to improve the punctuality of trains, and for reducing detentions short of Allahabad and Kanpur stations.
GM also advised that adequate preparations should be made to handle the inflow and outflow of candidates who will be appearing in the Railway Recruitment Board examinations scheduled to be held from 9th to the 31st of August of this month.
