Extend the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore daily train up to Nagercoil or Tirunelveli

Nagercoil: Kanyakumari District Railway Users’ Association (KKDRUA) demand to put forward the following for kind attention and consideration of Railway Administration. The Railway Minister is going to visit Tamilnadu and Kerala on 9th & 10th June. We request the Minister to announce the long pending demand extension of anyone  Trivandrum-Mangalore daily train to Nagercoil or Tirunelveli. Said P. Edward Jeni, secretary of the Association in a mail to ‘Railway Samachar’.

He said, at present no direct daily overnight train service is available between Nagercoil and Mangalore. A large number of people working in the unorganized sector in and around Shoranur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Mangalore are finding it very difficult for their regular visit to their hometown and back.

People traveling from Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari district to those regions are facing great difficulties, and have to go to Trivandrum to board one of the three daily evening services between Trivandrum and Mangalore (Train Nos. 16347/16348, 16603/16604 and 16629/16630).

Therefore, he has requested to the minister that necessary arrangements may be made to operate direct evening train between Nagercoil-Tirunelveli and Mangalore at the earliest to mitigate the sufferings of the people of Kerala and Kanyakumari district.
