SER’s massive initiatives on passenger ticketing system

Kolkata: Though freight and passenger remain SER’s main fronts, its spotlight is also the provision of massive amenities for the traveling passengers. As many as 147 Computerised Passenger Reservation Systems (PRS) are spreading over Kolkata, important stations, locations of four divisions i.e. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur, and Ranchi. Passengers who plan their journeys well in advance, they can book their tickets from anywhere to anywhere in India from these Computerised Passenger Reservation Systems.

A huge number of passengers avail SER trains regularly and they purchase their tickets during short journeys through Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS). There are presently 250 Unreserved Ticketing Systems (UTS) in all suburban sections and other stations spreading over SER’s jurisdiction.

This apart, 79 Station Ticket Booking Agent (STBA), 8 Janasadharan Ticket Booking Sewak (JTBS), 10 Coin Operated Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (CO-ATVM) and 8 Yatri Ticket Booking Sewak (YTSK) are the facilities of ticket purchases and travel by train with dignity.

As the technological and digital facilities are being extended in railways, Mobile Ticketing Applications have been introduced in Howrah-Kharagpur, Howrah-Amta, Panskura-Haldia, Kharagpur-Midnapur, and Santragachi-Shalimar section and around 2,000 daily commuters are using this app for valid train travel and witnessing increasing trend.

S E Railway also has installed 472 POS (Swipe Machine) all over its jurisdiction towards a cashless transaction for the purchase of railway ticket.


SER creates a record in the running of special trains

Kolkata: To meet the growing demand of the traveling passengers during the festive seasons and also during the summer and winter seasons, S E Railway has progressively introduced a large number of special trains during the peak seasons. The composition of popular mail/express trains has also been augmented in the peak seasons to provide additional berths and seats.

S E Railway during 2017-18 provided 1686 Special Trains towards different directions including Superfast Specials during festivals, summer and winter season against 580 Special Trains ran during the previous year i.e. 2016-17 thus registering an increase of 191% against last year.

In the financial year, 2017-18 regular mail/express trains were augmented by attaching 7325 extra coaches against 5000 extra coaches provided in the year 2016-17 registering an increase of 47% over the previous year.


DIVERSION OF TRAINS VIA HIJLI

Kolkata: With a view to decongest Kharagpur Station, another 5 pairs of New Delhi bound important trains originating from Bhubaneswar and Puri has been planned to run via Hijli instead of Kharagpur.  Out of the list, 4 pairs of trains are already running via Hijli with stoppage at Hijli in both the directions.

The trains are:-

Ø 22812 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Exp (via Adra)
Ø 22823 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Exp (via Tatanagar)
Ø 22824 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar-Rajdhani Exp (via Tatanagar)
Ø 12801 Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express
Ø 12802 New Delhi-Puri Purushottam Express
Ø 12815 Puri-New Delhi Nandan Kanan Express (via Adra)
Ø 12816 New Delhi-Puri Nandan Kanan Express (via Adra)

In addition to the above, following a pair of trains will also run via Hijli w.e.f. 03.08.2018. (Ex Puri and Ex New Delhi):

For the convenience of the passengers, S.E.Railway is providing transportation (bus service) between Hijli- Kharagpur-Hijli for the passengers of these trains.
