Achievements of Adra Division, S.E.Railway, 2017-18

All Major Sections of Adra Division made fit for 110 KMPH

Adra division had done a wonderful work by making two lines fit at raised speeds

ADRA: The sectional speed of 5 sections of the division has been raised to 110 KMPH in 2017-18. Adra-Bhojudih-Gomoh, Joychandipahar-Burnpur, Purulia-Kotshila, Kotshila-Bokaro-Rajabera and Talgaria-Bokaro N Cabin. Thus all major sections of the division are now 110 KMPH fit.

This was made possible by meticulous planning and hard work of the officers and staff of the division. This also required upgrading the track and raising superelevation of curves. In fact, the Talgoria-Bokaro N Cabin required tremendous input to raise speed from 50 KMPH to 110 KMPH.

Passenger Fitness of Two Lines at Short Notice:

The division made history by successfully arranging inspections of CRS for Passenger Fitness of two sections Talgoria-Bokaro N Cabin line of 33 KM and Joychandipahar-Sanka line of 7 KM at an extremely short notice of 5 days only.

The commendable work done by Adra Division on a very short span of time in connection passenger fitness of the two sections when Chandrapura-Dhanbad line was closed on 15.6.2017 as per Railway Board’s notification and the passenger movement was started from the same day through a diverted route of a goods line via JOC-SNKR-TLE-BDIH-N/CABIN section of the division.

SER Head Quarter had advised Adra Division to process for passenger fitness at a raised speed for the new lines mentioned above. The applications for CRS sanction were submitted to the HQ on 12.06.2017 and physical activity was started in the field.

It involved a lot of technical work, as well as physical work at a site such, is the replacement of wheel burnt rails, tamping of turn-outs, welding of rails, repairing of cess, etc. CRS inspections will take place on 19.06.2017 and sanctions were obtained on 22.06.2017.

Although the division was quite ignorant about making the preparation of CRS Inspection, all out efforts were made for proper documentation and arrangements could be made satisfactorily. CRS had also remarked that Adra division had done a wonderful work by making two lines passenger fit at raised speeds.

Fulfillment of Railway Board’s target regarding the provision of facilities for ‘Divyang’ in 50% of all category of stations:

During this year, Divyang facilities have been provided in 34 nos. of stations of this division. Thus, Divyangjan facilities have been provided in total 51 nos. of stations of this division in 2016-17 and 2017-18 against the target of 43 within these two years.

Launching of 3 LHS in one block:

Launching of three (03) Nos. of Limited Height Subway (LHS) in lieu of Two Nos. of Manned and One No. of Unmanned LC: KA-117 and KA-120 in JPH-IBL section and KA-40 in CDGR-GBA section in Adra-Midnapur Double line electrified section of Adra division was successfully executed in a 6.00 hours Traffic Block on 28.01.2018.

Several shadow works were also executed in the shadow blocks.

User-friendly Android Based OMS successfully commissioned over entire Division.

Installation of Ferro Magnetic Water Flow Meter:

On 14.02.2018, an electromagnetic water flow meter (insertion type) has been installed at Garga pump house main pipeline at Garga Pump House at Bokaro. It is a Digital flow meter measuring flow rate from 0.05 Cum/hrs. to 500 cum/hrs. and has combined indicator/ totalizer/rate switch.

After installation and proper utilization of this flow meter, it is estimated that there would be a saving of Rs. 25 lakh per annum.

Innovative Cold Weather Patrolman Stick:

As a safety measure and for the provision of proper working conditions, an innovative fracture detection cold weather patrolman stick has been developed by the division which has been successfully tested.

The patrolman feels comfortable as he is not required to wear heavy headlight mounted helmet or to carry the torch. The stick helps to detect fracture with its innovative U-frame even if the patrolman misses to see.

It has also been found to be useful in Track circuited area also as it will not short the glued joint.

Swarna Jayanti Park now a new tourist spot in Adra:

Recently a lot of renovation and developmental work have been carried out at Swarna Jayanti Park and it is gradually developing as a famous picnic spot and place of tourist interest in the region. A brochure has been unveiled about the park on 10th March 2018.

Maximum numbers of works proposed for dropping by Engineering Department during this financial year:

Already Engineering Department of this division has proposed to dropped 25 nos. of Pink Book works, 39 nos. of Law Book works and 112 nos. of MWP works. Such great achievement has been achieved due to close monitoring of Works and speedy finalization and closure of contracts.

TBR work by T-28 Machine stated:

T-28 Machine has been successfully utilized for through ballast renewal as per instruction of the Board.

Surpassing the target for elimination of unmanned level crossing gates for the year 2017-18:

Already this Division has achieved the target for elimination of unmanned level crossing gates by eliminating 72 Nos. of Unmanned Level Crossings gates by manning, Diversion of Road Traffic, Limited Height Subways and by the direct closure (Manning – 51, LHS-13, DRT-5 and Direct Closure-3).

In the sections Chandil-Asansol, Bankura-Adra-Bhojudih-Gomoh (via GC), Bhojudih-Mahuda(via JC), Talgoria-Bokaro, Damodar-Radhanagar, and Damodar-Kalipahari, there is no Unmanned Level Crossing.

Mapping (GIS) of railway assets:

Mapping of railway assets by RDPS survey has been completed for 520 Route km so far among 1030.432 Route KM.

Surpassing Targets for Track Work:

During this year, this division has not only achieved but surpassed all the targets of Track work except only an item of ballast supply where achievement is 70% as there were no tenders available initially and later the rake supply was considerably delayed.

516 Nos. unhabitable quarters have been declared condemned and 212 Nos. dismantled during 2017-18.

Prefabricated construction has been introduced in the division:

10 nos. of unmanned level crossings have been manned by portacabins (Prefabricated sandwiched panels of galvalume sheets).

Providing highest numbers of platform surfacing in recent years:

During this year, already 30Nos. platforms at 20 stations have been provided with Pucca surface and chequered tiles at its edges which is the highest achievement of this division in recent years.

Platform raising work:

Already 17 nos. platforms in 15 stations have been raised to a high level and thus achieving the full target fixed by headquarter. This is also an unparallel achievement in comparison to the same in recent years.

Platform extension work:

During this year, this division has already satisfied the high expectation of the headquarter by providing an extension of 31 Nos. platforms at 18 stations.

This is also a great achievement for this division except for two stations of this division, all stations on major routes have sufficient platform length for twelve coach MEMU trains.
