Trade unions instead of fighting the evils, competitively conducting cricket matches

Overburdened railway employees are suffering from physical & psychological problems

NEW DELHI: One side staff crunch, no replacement for retired/transferred staff and one side surrender of posts, another side increased work and mounting pressure from higher authorities to complete the work in target dates with insufficient staff.

Another side inter-personnel caste and group politics among the staff in the name of the safe game. Even another side is that both trade unions instead of fighting the above evils, competitively conducting cricket matches and other games, which are the duties of administration, sports, and welfare department, to mark their presence among employees and raising their underarms.

Ultimately what will happen/happens? Overburdened railway employees will suffer from psychological problems, change in genetics related problems which leads to BP, sugar, heart attacks, cancer, and various diseases and finally falling to death like birds.

Another side at branch/depot level, both trade unions office bearers targeting staff who are not, inline or in terms with them, by secretly influencing the depot in charges to give hard duties to such staff.

A railway employee, who is not willing to be named, said, I am not in particular of anybody, very general but the fact of the matter is, it is prevalent. As a railway department worker and as a comrade, I feel, it is my responsibility to blow the whistle and say that this is the very sorry state of affairs in the railways and wish to highlight it. Kindly put the focus on such things. It is not hurt anybody unintentionally, he said.
