The remarkable growth in SER’s freight earnings and loading

Kolkata: South Eastern Railway during the first eleven months of the current financial year 2017-18 i.e. from April 2017 to February 2018 has achieved a remarkable improvement in freight earnings.

During the above period, South Eastern Railway has generated earnings of Rs. 10918.49 crores from originating freight traffic as against Rs. 10059.03 crores earned from freight traffic during the corresponding period of last financial year (2016-2017), thus recording a remarkable jump of Rs. 859.46 crores i.e. a growth of 8.54%.

This remarkable growth in earnings has been possible as this Railway has loaded 136.92 million tonnes of freight during April 2017 – February 2018 as against 133.80 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last financial year, thus registering a growth of 2.33%.

The loading of the main commodity i.e. Iron Ore during the above period has been 78.68 million tonnes while the loading of Coal has been 24.12 million tonnes. The other major commodities loading were Raw Materials to Steel Plants, Pig Iron & Finished Steel, Cement, Food Grains, Fertilizers, POL etc.

SERWWO felicitates outstanding women railway employees

Kolkata: With a view to encouraging Women Railway Employees, Smt. Surabhi Agrawal, President, South Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SERWWO) felicitated 17 (Seventeen) non-gazetted women railway employees of four divisions i.e. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi including Headquarters office of South Eastern Railway for their outstanding performances in various spheres of activities in railway working at a function held at BNR Officers’ Club, Garden Reach on 15th March 2018.

The President/SERWWO along with other members gave away prizes with Cash award and Merit Certificates to the women railway employees.

South Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SERWWO) is a philanthropic and charitable organization of South Eastern Railway. The main object of this organization is to help the wards of railway employees for their education, treatment, and healthcare.

This Organisation also sends relief materials to the affected areas during natural calamities like flood, earthquake etc. It also donates to various welfare organizations in and around Kolkata.
