Kanniah’s assigned leader, S. Paramasivam convicted in a criminal case

Chennai: S. Paramasivam aka Annanagar Paramasivam and another employee were convicted in a criminal case by 2nd Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai and both were sentenced to one month of imprisionment along with a fine of Rs. 3000 each.

Actually, Paramasivam is a DMK leader and Kanniah’s assigned union leader in the Railway Employees’ Cooperative Credit Society Ltd, Chennai-3.

He and another employee B. Venkatesan of the Chennai Society were found guilty by Magistrate Court for assaulting a fellow employee of the Chennai Society.

The Society Management, headed by the General Secretary of SRMU and now also the president of AIRF N. Kanniah and AGS of SRMU/AIRF N. Manivannan, did not take any action against Paramasivam even after he was proclaimed guilty by a Criminal Court.

Employees of the Chennai Society and Southern Railway says, actually S. Paramasivam is a henchman of N. Kanniah who was given extension of Service in the Chennai Society after his superannuation.

He say, now, S. Paramasivam is engaged in extorting money, a minimum of Rs. 5000/- each, from the hapless employees of the Chennai Society in an attempt to please Mr. Kanniah by giving advertisements in the dailies about his master’s elevation to the new post at the AIRF.

It is sad that the hard earned Railway Mens’ money is misused to nourish the criminal elements like S. Paramasivam by the Management of the Railway Society, Chennai.

R. C. Cyril Thiagaraj, Secretary of the Railway Employees’ Co-Op. Society Union written a letter to Chief Executive of the Society on 30th December, 2020 and demanded strict action against both the convicted employees of the society.

He said in his letter that apart from the above incident, there were many complaints in the past against Paramasivam of assaulting and threatening fellow employees of the society.

Also, a criminal case is pending against him for abusing and threatening a lady employee of the society. Unfortunately, no action was taken against him by the society till date, he said.

He say, unexplainably, he was given extension of service by the management of the society from April, 2020, after his superannuation.

The incident happened on 22.02.2013, where an employee of the society, N. Mohanasundaram was assaulted by S. Paramasivam and a group of people from his union, but no action was taken by the Society against any of the culprits. Instead, charge sheets were issued 37 members of the Society Union who protested against the unruly conduct of S. Paramasivam and others.

Thiagaraj said that they were charge sheeted falsely as a measure of victimisation by the management of the Society. The judgment of the 2nd Metropolitan Magistrate vindicate the above fact.

He say, “the favouritism shown by the Society to S. Paramasivam, who is also the assigned general secretary of the recognised union of the Society – RECBSU – by the society, is further evident from the fact that chief executive had appeared as defence witness (DW-2) in the referred case in a vain attempt to save S. Paramasivam”.

Thiagaraj demanded that terminate the extension of the service of S. Paramasivam and suspension of B. Venkatesan from the service with immediate effect.

He also demanded that to exonerate 37 members of the Railway Employees’ Co-Op. Society Union who were charge sheeted for the incident in the interest of natural justice and fair play.
