SER has taken all possible efforts to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities

Rakes containing food grains are being unloaded at different locations over South Eastern Railway’s jurisdiction.

99 rakes containing more 2 lakh tonnes food grains and salt reached SER jurisdiction during the month of August 2020

Kolkata: South Eastern Railway has taken all possible measures in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic to ensure uninterrupted supply of food grains and other essential commodities.

As per the guidelines given by the Ministry of Railways, SER has geared up its entire network for unabated movement of goods trains.

During the month of August, 2020, altogether 2,04,353 tonnes of food grains and Salt have been unloaded from 99 rakes comprising Rice, Wheat and Salt at different stations and sidings of South Eastern Railway.

Out of this 99 rakes of food grains, 61 rakes of Rice, 35 rakes of wheat and 3 rakes of Salt were unloaded.

The rakes were unloaded at different locations of Kharagpur, Chakradharpur, Adra and Ranchi Divisions of South Eastern Railway viz. Kharagpur, Midnapur, Kalaikunda, Rupsa, Sankrail Goods Terminal Yard, Adra, Purulia, Bankura, Bokaro Steel City, Namkon, Tatisilwai, Tatanagar, etc. during the period from 1st August to 31st August, 2020.
