Revised guidelines on cancellation of tickets and refund of fare due to Covid-19 issued

Any balance amount on cancellation of tickets for journey date from 21.03.2020 shall also be refunded

In view of Covid-19 Railway Board has extended cancellation of Regular passenger trains including Mail/Express, passenger and suburban till 30.06.2020.

However freight trains, timetabled parcel services, Shramik special trains and special trains started w.e.f 12.05.2020.

It is further notified by Railway Board that all ticket cancellation of regular passenger trains up to 30.06.20 shall be eligible for full refund.

Railway Board has also issued revised guidelines on cancellation of tickets and refund of fare due to Covid-19 situation. Some important points covered under latest guidelines are:

A. Relaxation in provision of refund rules for PRS generated tickets/ e Tickets (already booked) as a special case, for journey starting w.e.f 21.03.20 till resumption of passenger service or till further order

1. For Trains cancelled by Railways: PRS Counter Ticket: Refund across the counter can be taken on submission of ticket up to 6 months from date of the Journey (instead of normal 03 days) .

2. E-Tickets: Auto refund: For Trains not cancelled however passenger does not wants to perform journey: As a special case full refund for already booked reserved tickets both PRS counter generated and E-tickets shall be given.

3. PRS Counter Ticket: TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) can be filed within 6 months from date of journey at the station (instead of normal 03 days).

4. TDR can be submitted to CCO/ CCM Claims office for getting the refund with 60 days of filing of TDR subject to verification from Train chart. (Instead of normal rule of 10 days)

5, E ticket : Online cancellation and refund facility is available.

6. Cancellation through 139: Passengers who want cancel ticket through 139 can get refund across the counter within 06 months from date of journey.

B. Full refund of cancellation amount so deducted on cancellation of already booked reserved tickets for journey period starting from starting from 21.03.20

PRS Counter Tickets : Passengers who have already cancelled their tickets for the said journey period starting from 21.03.2020, can apply for refund of balance amount of cancellation charge so deducted to the office of chief claims officer (CCO) / Chief Commercial managers / Refund (CCM-Refund) of concerned Zonal Railway HQ.

The application for the claiming refund of balance amount of cancellation charge so deducted can be made in the prescribed format within 06 month of scheduled date of Journey.

E Tickets: Refund of balance amount of cancellation charges so deducted shall be credited to the account of the passengers from which ticket was booked.
