Include Railway Doctors, Nurses and other Paramedical staff eligible for insurance
Coverage of all essential cadre/staff for the insurance cover declared by Finance Minister and provision of honorarium to railway staff performed duties during national lockdown period
At the outset of the ongoing calamity of Covid-19, Com. Venu P. Nair, General Secretary, National Railway Mazdoor Union (NRMU) appreciated all efforts and stand with solidarity for prompt initiative taken by the Government and requested to the Railway Minister to include Railway Doctors, Nurses and other Paramedical staff eligible for ₹50 lakh insurance declared by the Finance Minister of India.
In this regard, he has written to Com. Shivgopal Mishra, National General Secretary of All India Railwaymens’ Federation (AIRF) and also requested him and said that, “the NRMU is of the opinion that all front line staff belonging to Loco Running, Traffic, Operating, Commercial, Engineering, TMD, TRD, Mechanical, Electrical, TRS, Workshop staff, who comes in direct contact with public as well as vulnerable to get infected of the deadly virus by virtue of their unavoidable traveling and pattern of duties/work may also be asked to include in the criteria of the insurance declared by the Central Government”.
He writes, “the demand for suitable incentives or honorarium to all the staff of different identified departments such as above and inexhaustible, for their performance of duties during this lock down period to facilitate smooth movement of freight/parcel movements with essential commodities, to Engineering, TMD, TRD & S&T staff who were called to do routine maintenance works, to staff from medical fraternity who strived their best in preparedness of treatment facility and rendered their noble service, to workshop staff who were assigned to modify the coaches as quarantine wards, made PPEs, sanitizers, masks, gloves etc. may be raised at appropriate level as a reward for their committed efforts rendered at this critical disastrous juncture of deadly COVID-19 transmission period”.
