Southern Railway has terminated the cleaning contract of Ernakulam

Unless corrupt lobby is thrown out of the division the system cannot be cleaned

Chennai: Under severe pressure from Railway Board, Southern Railway has terminated the cleaning contract of Ernakulam Jn station which was awarded to M/s Dynamic Services, 139, Dekshinadri Road, Kolkotta. The contractor who violated all tender norms with the help of chief health Inspector and Health Inspectors of Trivandrum division was not paying the salaries of workers on time, or paying their PF and ESI contribution for past many months.

The same contractor has 6 station contracts in the division for a long time. And in all places, the same issues of non-payment of salaries are there. Workers have already raised this issue but health officials were always helping contractor and safeguarding his interest. Even After the illegal nexus between contractor and officials came into light, CMS/TVC was not ready to terminate the contract.

After ‘Railway Samachar’ has published the corruption story another day Railway Board has ordered a probe and that has resulted in termination now. Reliable sources say that contract was terminated to save the corrupt officials who were supposed to be transferred out of the division. The chief health inspector was already lobbying in Chennai with Union leaders to avert his transfer at any cost.

By terminating contract they made sure that no action will be taken against corrupt officials. Board has directed division to give new contracts to Self Help Groups or NGO’s for the time being. But unless the Chief health inspector and three Health Inspectors and their close aide lady supervisor are shifted things will be back to Zero. Whoever takes the cleaning contract in Ernakulam health department makes sure that the lady supervisor is back as supervisor every time.

It is learned from reliable sources that four accounts of lady supervisor are under vigilance scanner and it is found that bulk money has been deposited to these accounts from Kolkota regularly. Unless this lobby is thrown out of the division the system cannot be cleaned. The health inspectors who are working in always and Ernakulam Town has already raced for the lucrative post of CHI/ERS if there is a chance to get in.

Sources say that to carry out whatever current CHI was doing they need the active support of this lady again. So they are insisting that she must be protected at any cost. It is alleged that the move has the blessings from CMS/TVC and PCMD/MAS. Railway Board has taken serious note of the situation.

Officials feel that even at the last minute health officials at Trivandrum division had tried their level best to protect the contractor by giving a clean chit to him. Two health inspectors were actively involved in forging documents in favor of contractor are already under the vigilance scanner.
