SER forms committee to enquire into the tragic incident at Santragachi stn.
Kolkata: A Committee comprising of Head of the Departments of S.E.Railway has been formed to inquire into the unfortunate incident at Santragachi last evening (23.10.18) due to overcrowding and heavy rush, resulting in the death of 2 (two) persons and injury of 12 (twelve) others. The 4 member Committee consists of the Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Principal Chief Engineer, Principal Chief Security Commissioner-cum-IG and Chief Safety Officer of S.E.Railway.
Out of the 12 (twelve) injured persons admitted to Howrah General Hospital last evening, 5 (five) have already been released while 2 (two) persons have been shifted to R. N. Tagore Hospital and 1(one) person has been shifted to SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. The remaining 4 (four) injured persons will be shifted to S.E.Railway Central Hospital, Garden Reach.
Railway authority will bear the entire cost of treatment for the injured passengers. Railway doctors are attending the injured passengers since last evening to provide all necessary support for the treatment being undertaken at the Hospital.
Moreover, the Committee formed to conduct the enquiry will also look into the allegation regarding a change of platform of trains.
OVERCROWDING AT SANTRAGACHI STATION-TWO DEAD & TWELVE INJURED
As per the latest report, two persons have been declared dead in this unfortunate incident at Santragachi station on 23rd October 2018 in the evening at about 18.00 hrs.
The list of persons declared dead is given below:-
* Kamla Kant Singh (M-32), S/o Madan Singh, A resident of Raina, Kolaghat, East Midnapur, West Bengal.
* Taser Sardar (M-61), S/o Kuran Sardar, a resident of Harihar Para, Nasirpur, Murshidabad, West Bengal.
The list of injured persons admitted to Howrah General Hospital is given below:-
1. Gouri Hembraham, 2. Arna Shaw, 3. Aksha Shaw, 4. Sk Rahul Amin, 5. Amrendra Nath Dutta, 6. Anish Shome, 7. Sk Akramul Haque, 8. Gournitai Saha, 9. Silpa Oraon, 10. Hanumath Shaw, 11. Kiran Shaw, 12. Asish Santra.
Indian Railways has declared compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for death cases, Rs. 1 lakh for grievous injury and Rs. 50 thousand for those who sustained a minor injury. Medical expenses for injured passengers will be borne by railway authority.
Addl. General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur and a team of Railway Doctors are attending the patients at Howrah General Hospital. Railway authority has ordered an enquiry in connection with this unfortunate incident at Santragachi.
