Kolkata :\u00a0Sankrail Goods Terminal<\/strong> of South Eastern Railway has now become one of the most important goods terminals because of its location which is favourable to mobilise huge traffic having better road connectivity with the main business hubs of Kolkata.<\/span><\/p>\n

Massive developmental work is in progress for modernisation of Sankrail Goods Terminal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The recent developmental works undertaken at Sankrail Goods Terminal are as under:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

* Major portion of the works of development of Sankrail Goods Terminal\u00a0has been commissioned at a cost of Rs. 124 crores\u00b7<\/span><\/p>\n

* World Class facilities for rake handling has been provided to ensure faster turnaround of rakes.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Total 8 full length lines along with full length Wharf facility has been commissioned\u00b7<\/span><\/p>\n

* Smooth approach road with separate entry & exit (1.1Km. concrete road & new exit road 1.2Km) have been commissioned\u00b7<\/span><\/p>\n

* Round the clock high mast tower lighting facility made available\u00b7<\/span><\/p>\n

* Truck Terminal, Merchant Room, Goods Office are also being developed.<\/span><\/p>\n

After development of Sankrail Goods Terminal, the volume of inward and outward rakes has increased manifold.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main commodities of the rakes are Cement, Iron & Steel, Food Grains, Automobiles, Chemicals etc.<\/span><\/p>\n
